Daniel Bochman is a Digital Humanities scholar at the University of Edinburgh, where he is a PhD candidate (Architecture). Daniel's transdisciplinary research intersects art, architecture and the geosciences to reveal the spatial narratives underlying everyday objects.

Currently, Daniel is conducting archival and on-site architectural research at Dalkeith Country Park near Edinburgh, Scotland. This research focuses upon the eighteenth-century reconstruction of Dalkeith Palace by the patron Anne Scott, Duchess of Buccleuch & Queensberry. Here, Daniel argues that the extensive social and material networks of the Duchess and Dalkeith Palace are archival ‘autobiographies in stone,’ and that the interplay of these living archives with the material records present a new historical narrative. Daniel incorporates data points from UAVs, LiDAR and 3D object scanning to represent these active knowledge-making spaces.

In addition to Digital Humanities research, Daniel is passionate about digital storytelling and creating authentic, experiential learning components to engage learners of all generations. He also enjoys canoeing and exploring Scotland.
